the traditional Christmas nativity scene in Piazzale Roma

Roccaraso, Abruzzo, December 26, 2011. Piazzale Roma is the place where most of the musical events and markets take place; it is there that the nativity scene and the tree are placed at Christmas. In the photo, a detail of the nativity scene with baby Jesus in the straw cradle.
The town is one of the most famous tourist resorts in the Apennines. A destination not only for winter holidays, with its ski resorts and the proximity of the Aremogna plateau and Monte Pratello, but also for summer holidays. The altitude of 1200 meters greatly mitigates the summer heat. Roccaraso, with the other towns in the area, Castel di Sangro, Rivisondoli, Pescocostanzo and many other locations, represents a great attraction for sports and non-sports tourism and for all ages.
