Italy Diano – greatest Italian cyclists…
the bronze busts of Bartali, Coppi and Girardengo, the greatest Italian cyclists, are in the observation deck of Capo Berta along the Milano-Sanremo route, above the town of Diano Marina. The artwork was carried out in more than one stage: the busts of Coppi and Girardengo in 1981 in by the CONI of Imperia in the person of Ivo Bensa, and the bust of Bartali (died 2000) in May 2005 together with a complete redesign of the area. On the occasion of the Milano-Sanremo in 2007, the three champions were placed on local stone wall. Bartali’s bust, donated by MondoGel, was carried out by sculptor Gabriele Garbolino.
